Seeking Gaffer with Light Panels for Short Film Production
Hello, my name is Ezra Lunel and I am a professor of Film Studies and Film Production in Southern California. I'm halfway through a six-week work/holiday here in Basel. Over the last three weeks, I've been in development and now in pre-production for a short film I'm fortunate enough to be filming with a number of truly outstanding local actors.
The name of our story is “Fiorella's Basel" and the script (here attached) calls for a few important scenes that will greatly benefit from some basic cinema lighting. Although I'm filming this on a small 4K camera with good sound, I did not come prepared with lighting equipment.
I'm putting out a crew call for any aspiring cinematographer and/or gaffer who would like to ply their craft and have availability this week, on Wed. Jan. 15, for a short 2-page indoor apartment scene in central Basel, with only two characters.
Also, likely over the weekend of Jan. 17-19 as well, we may need lighting (awaiting location confirmation) for an office scene and a restaurant scene, also to be filmed on location in Basel.
Because this is a zero-budget passion project, I cannot offer a standard production company’s day rate. However, I don't expect crew to work for free either, so I would be very happy to pay a reasonable day rate.
If you’re interested, I would hope you have some dimmable, variable-color-temperature light panels - I expect not much more is needed, as aesthetics are not the highest priority, but rather simply being able to see the characters and not resort to available lighting and high ISO.
Thank you,
Ezra
