Filmpodium Zürich

Zürich ist berühmt für sein erstrangiges Kinoangebot, das sich mit dem von Paris und Berlin messen kann. Das Filmpodium, das Programmkino der Stadt Zürich, trägt wesentlich zu dieser Vielfalt bei, denn es zeigt allein an die 350 verschiedene Filme jährlich – mehr als alle kommerziellen Kinos zusammen.

Thematische Reihen und Retrospektiven von Klassikern der Filmgeschichte sind ebenso zu sehen wie Premieren eigenwilliger Autorenfilme aus aller Welt; Sonderveranstaltungen mit Live-Musik und Star-Gästen runden das Programm ab.

Das Filmpodium-Kino, 1949 erbaut und 2003 umfassend renoviert, ist nicht nur der schönste Kinosaal von Zürich, sondern bietet das ganze Jahr ein Festival der Filmkunst im Herzen der Stadt.

Das Filmpodium ist ein Kulturangebot des Präsidialdepartements der Stadt Zürich und ein Partnerkino der Cinémathèque suisse.

Zurich is famous for its first-rate offering of movies, which ranks with those of Paris and Berlin. Filmpodium, a cinema operated by the Mayor of Zurich’s Office of Cultural Affairs, is a major contributor to this variety, screening around 350 different films per year – more than all the commercial movie theatres put together.

Thematic cycles and retrospectives of classic works of cinema run side-by-side with premieres of distinctive contemporary independent films from around the world, all in the original language; special events with live music and guest stars are part and parcel of the programme. The Filmpodium cinema, built in 1949 and renovated in 2003, is not only Zurich’s most beautiful movie theatre but the home of what is effectively a year-round film festival in the heart of the city.
