Casting & Crew Call for “Paranoid Girl”

Dear Readers

We’re excited to announce both a casting call and crew search for our upcoming short film, Paranoid Girl (working title), which will be shot in Basel, Switzerland, this coming January. Our indie filmmaking team is full of passionate, young creatives with a clear vision, and we’re on the hunt for like-minded individuals who want to help us bring this project to life!

About the film:

Paranoid Girl tells the story of Elodie, a young foreign student in Basel who is battling severe paranoia and anxiety. As her fears escalate through a series of nightmarish events, the lines between reality and illusion blur in visually striking and surreal ways. It's a film that delves into themes of isolation, fear, and perception, all set against the cultural backdrop of Basel.

Casting Call:

We are holding a casting session next month, where we will be focusing on finding a talented actress for the lead role of Elodie, among these other roles:

  • Elodie (Female, 20s): We’re seeking a talented actress to portray Elodie, a complex character battling paranoia and anxiety. This demanding role requires depth, vulnerability, and a wide emotional range, along with the ability to express her madness through intense physical movements.

  • Lara (Female, 20s): Elodie’s upbeat, confident friend who helps balance the narrative.

  • Minor roles in english: These include people playing characters on a fake film set, such as a sound technician, makeup artist, and director. These roles have minimal to no dialogue but are key to the surreal and dreamlike nature of the story.

  • Minor roles in swiss-german: Movie goers who are having a short and passionate discussion about a movie they just saw in the cinema.

  • Basler Fasnacht extras: We are also looking for people willing to play drums and piccolo in traditional Fasnacht costumes to enhance the authenticity of the setting.

Whether you’re an experienced actor or someone passionate about being part of a meaningful project, we’d love to hear from you. The film will be in English but we are not necessarily looking for native speakers.

This is a paid opportunity, and our goal is to create a film that not only challenges us creatively but also leaves a lasting cultural impact. We're aiming to screen Paranoid Girl at Swiss and international film festivals, and this is your chance to be part of something unique and artistically valuable.
