Casting Call for Indie Short Film
Synopsis:
Jamie, a talented, smart, hardworking and good man in his 20s, is at a stage in his life where he wants to take the next step, whether it be a new job, a new hobby, a bucket list item or just living life to the fullest. He wants something more, and he is well capable of it, but instead of taking action he sits on a bench and waits for opportunity, and when they do come he always overthinks and doubts and never feels ready. He doesn’t want to take that leap of faith. Every now and again a big opportunity comes for Jamie, one which could change his life but requires him to go out of his comfort zone. Jamie always hesitates and says no and sees his life just go right past him because he was too scared. He never left that bench. This movie should make people realise that the perfect time will never come, they will never be ready, so just go for it.
Jamie, Lead Role:
Fluent in English. Should bring a sense of innocence and hesitance to Jamie. A touch of Peter Parker energy — slightly nerdy, thoughtful but a bit scared. No specific ethnic background required; the role is open to all actors.
Businesswoman, Jessica:
Female, 20–35. A businesswoman who is pretty, confident and smart, with a strong presence. Think Donna from Suits — sharp, composed, and effortlessly commanding attention. Should wear office clothing or generally smart attire. Open to all actors; no specific background required.
Sports Guy:
Male, 20-35, fit, preferably on the taller side (180 cm+). Strong, athletic build; good posture. Think of Clark Kent as your P.E. teacher — confident, solid, and physically impressive. Looking for an actor with a fair/light complexion.
Stand-Up Event Organizer:
Male or female, 20-35, Quirky, random, a bit weird — imagine Jack Sparrow hiring you for a stand‑up gig. Sarcastic, unpredictable, and constantly talking also a bit drunk with a beer in hand. Open to all actors; no specific background required.
Friend, Shakib
Male, 20-35, Normal, everyday attire. Should carry a subtle sense of uneasiness, as if something is weighing on him. Looking for an actor of Arabic or South Asian descent.
Since this is an indie passion project, I unfortunately cannot offer payment, but it’s a great opportunity to gain experience and be part of a small creative team. Filming will take place on weekends, and exact dates can be coordinated together. I currently only have one iPhone camera, so it would be great if you have another phone available for additional angles — ideally an iPhone 14 Pro Max or better. If you also have any other equipment that could be useful, such as lights, microphones, or tripods, please let me know. If not, no problem at all.
Location: Josewiese
Directions: From Zürich HB, take tram 50 or 51 and get off at Löwenbräu. From there, it’s a 5‑minute walk to the location. Again if you know other benches where there are not too many people please let me know in Zürich.
